Pau’s culinary specialties
At the many restaurants of Pau, or in our Campanile restaurant, come taste the typical culinary specialties of the South-West, largely inspired by Béarn. Among them, of course, is the famous Béarnaise sauce that often accompanies meats, foie gras, duck confit, Bayonne ham or ventrèche. On the sweet side, Pau honey is famous, as are its “merveilles”, small donuts. Finally, treat yourself (in moderation) to local wines such as Jurançon or Madiran, known for their sweet aftertaste.

Must-see events in Pau
The city of Pau is famous for its Hestiv'Òc festival, which every year highlights the culture of Occitanie. Concerts, theater, dance and discovery of local cuisine are all there to enjoy. Interesting facts about Pau
Pau has long been the world capital of aviation. Its military aviation school was the most famous in France in the 1910s and notably trained the future pilots of the First World War. It was also in Pau that the first balloon flight was made in 1844 and the first flights by plane took place in 1909. Pau is still recognized today as the cradle of modern aviation.
