TRAVEL GUIDE
What to do in Eindhoven?
In 2 days
1 week
As a family
The first day can be spent exploring the city and its architecture. A simple stroll through the streets of Eindhoven will lead you through its old neighborhoods, its late 19th century industrial factory ruins and its modern and contemporary buildings, like its skyscrapers, the Strijp-S neighborhood and the university area. The second day can be devoted to visits, starting with the museums. There are quite a few of them. Rediscover the initial trials by the famous Philips brand at the Philips Incandescent Lamp Factory. To go back even further in time, visit the city’s open-air museum, which features prehistoric and medieval ruins.
A week in Eindhoven is the perfect length of time for a stay to see the city’s tourist attractions. Here are some must-see places when you stay at one of our Campanile hotels. First, the city’s open-air museum, which traces our collective history and the history of the Netherlands. Then, we strongly recommend the art museums to anyone interested in modern history. For this, visit the Artificial Light in Art Centre 'Kunstlicht in de kunst' and the Van Abbemuseum.
Eindhoven is an especially good choice for a stay with the whole family. A perfect example is the Ton Smits Huis museum, a cartoon museum for both children and adults! You can also enjoy outdoor activities in the natural park: hiking, walking or biking await you for a return to calm and tranquility. And don’t forget the zoos and golf courses!

Top 3 gastronomic experiences in Eindhoven
Herring
Visiting the city of Eindhoven means discovering Dutch culture and opening up to its gastronomic specialties. Among them are several herring-based dishes, prominent in Eindhoven and throughout the Netherlands. You'll find them in many forms – as a snack while visiting the city, raw in little sandwiches called "broodje haring" and served with pickles and onions. You'll also find them whole – tilt your head back and open your mouth! You'll also find plenty of delicious fried specialties (meatballs, french fries, fricadelles, rice, and fried chicken, etc.).Split pea soup
Visiting Eindhoven during the long winter months? There's nothing like a good Dutch split pea soup (Erwtensoep). Soup in general is very popular with the Dutch, no matter its flavor. Sunday dinner often starts with soup. But split pea soup is the most common. It can be served with pieces of smoked sausage and is often served with slices of beautiful black rye bread.Dutch cheeses
After France, the Netherlands is the world’s second largest cheese exporting country! Any cheese lover visiting the Netherlands should try at least a few during his or her stay: Gouda (produced in the south, with a thin, yellow crust), Edam (produced in the North, with a red and black wax coating) and Maasdam (a cheese with a slight hazelnut taste). All three are cow’s milk cheeses you can enjoy in our restaurants.
