A two-day break:
Two days is just enough time to discover the culinary and cultural wonders of Villefranche-sur-Saône. On the first day, take a stroll along the historic rue Nationale, the main street where Renaissance-style houses and modern buildings mingle in a contrast of tradition and modernity. Visit the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame-des-Marais for its stunning architecture, as well as the chapel of the former Hôtel-Dieu for perspective. The contemporary art museum of Paul Dini, showcasing the talented artists of the region, is simply a marvel to visit. All these attractions are very close to the Campanile Villefranche-sur-Saône Hotel. On the second day, walk around the many vineyards dotting the region that produce superb Beaujolais wine.
A week-long stay:
With a whole week, discover the hidden treasures of Villefranche-sur-Saône. Visit a festival or two to meet the friendly locals. The Beaujolais Nouveau festival is a great way to experience the Beaujolais culture. Take day trips to the "Tuscan"-like villages of Beaujolais (Arnas, Gleizé and Limas), where the stark and green landscapes await. Along with Romanesque churches, castles and forests, visitors will have a plethora of sites to visit. Between hiking, visiting local artisans, and wine-tasting, there are plenty of regional activities to explore.
A family holiday:
Villefranche-sur-Saône boasts over 20 child-friendly parks and even a waterpark, Nautile, which offers spa options for parents and plenty of attractions for children. At night, take a stroll along the banks of the Rhône and experience the poetic atmosphere of the river. Families will love the guinguette, singing restaurants, that have set up terraces along the river.
