Top 3 gastronomic experiences in Villefranche-sur-Saône
Burgundy Snails
Among the traditional recipes of Burgundy, your stay in one of our Campanile hotel-restaurants in the area will allow you to discover or rediscover the snails of Burgundy. If you think you don’t like snails, regional recipes could make you change your mind. Cooked in the oven with butter, garlic, shallots, parsley and sometimes mustard, Burgundy snails are undeniable part of this region worth discovering. Of course, choose a local white wine to accompany this traditional dish, and enjoy!
Burgundy desserts
During your stay at the Campanile hotel, for dessert, breakfast or even a snack, treat yourself to the many regional specialties. We thoroughly recommend wine figs, walnut tart and the local red berries (au gratin with yogurt but especially in crumble)! And since Lyon is only a few kilometers away, try the traditional Lyons bugnes: delicious little fried donuts that also called oreillettes.
Beaujolais wines
An essential element of your stay in Villefranche-sur-Saône if you enjoy fine wines: the vineyards of Beaujolais, which are associated with the vineyards of Burgundy. You are probably familiar with Beaujolais Nouveau, but it's also an opportunity to discover Brouilly, Côte-de-Brouilly, Morgon, Chénas and Saint-Amour. These wines are a heavenly accompaniment to local recipes. A wine route has even been created at the heart of a dozen grape vineyards which goes through Villefranche-sur-Saône: a great opportunity for a walk with family or friends!
