A two-day break
Exploring the main large cobbled square is a good place to start a short stay at Campanile Cambrai Hotel, with the main town hall and its clocktower looking over the square. The religious monuments, the cathedral and the 'Notre-Dame-de-Grace' situated within are delightful while the Museum of Fine Arts offers a vast insight into the local history. The sound and light exhibit only enhances this insight.
A week-long stay
If you wish to escape the town centre then a walk to the public gardens, situated in the east of the city, is a perfect opportunity to discover the 'Palais des Grottes' centre. The Lewarde Mining Heritage Centre can be found at the location of The Delloye Colliery where, in its heyday, 1,000 tonne of coal was produced daily. This is now a mining museum that takes you down shafts to discover the history.
A family holiday
With such a rich heritage, Cambrai is a town brimming with museums, places of interest, cathedrals and much more. But for family fun why not travel a little further afield. Situated just outside of Cambrai, The Bois Chenu: Urban Ecological Park, presents the opportunity to offer the family some tranquillity and there are also various farms just outside Cambrai, including, Reumont, Doignies and Vertain.
