Did you know?
The name of the city of Brie-Comte-Robert has a double etymology: "Brie" actually comes from the Gaulish briga which means "plateau" and refers to the geography of the municipality, while count (compte) Robert was Robert de Dreux, brother of the King of France Louis VII, who founded the city in the 12th century. He then built its castle that you can still visit and which has been regularly restored and partially rebuilt since 1982, by the "Friends of the Old Château de Brie-Comte-Robert".
