Interesting facts about Valenciennes
The city of Valenciennes is famous for its festive atmosphere. Every year, gatherings are organized around giant wicker men. Do you know Binbin? This giant chubby child, standing 4.35 m tall and weighing 280 kilos, is a carnival hero as well as the emblem of the city. Originally from Douai, it was then adopted by the city of Valenciennes in 1825. If you stay at Campanile accommodation around the first weekend of September, you can discover this character during the festivities known as "Folies de Binbin".
