Interesting facts about Thionville
Are you familiar with Merlin Antoine Christophe? Born in Thionville in 1762, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1790. He became one of the most ardent accusers of Louis XVI. After many battles, this soldier, dubbed the "fire devil" by his enemies, campaigned against Napoleon in 1814 and raised an army to fight the Allied armies. Merlin de Thionville then became a farmer and died at the age of 71 in Paris. Your stay in the Campanile Thionville accommodation will be an opportunity to admire his statue, located on a traffic circle in the city, as well as his family home on Rue de la Tour.
