The central part of the enclosure forms a pitch on which mainly soccer and rugby competitions are played. The stadium’s capacity was increased to 20,000 during the Paris Olympic Games in 1924, then to 40,000, including 26,000 seats, following a major renovation in 1932. The Parc des Princes hosted the finish of the Tour de France on several occasions until 1967. In addition to soccer, rugby and cycling, other disciplines are regularly represented, including athletics, English boxing, figure skating and ice hockey. From 1970 to 1972, the architect Robert Taillibert undertook the reconstruction of the stadium, in the configuration that you are familiar with today.
