Interesting facts about Montélimar
Explore the history of Montélimar with Campanile hotels! The House of Adhémar was one of the most important noble families in Haute-Provence. By the late 11th century, the Adhémars had started to settle in Provence; Adhémar de Monteil was bishop of Puy and his brother Guillaume-Hughes d’Adhémar became Lord of Monteil. The name Montélimar comes from the combination of the names Monteil and Adhémar. The family owned a palace in Narbonne and about 30 chateaus during its golden age. The main branch of the family died off in the 16th century.
