My wife has a medical condition that severely limits what she can eat and at dinner the chef came out to discuss with her what she could have and what he could do. We have never had that level of service at any hotel since her operation, so full marks to Hotel Campanile Northampton. Keep up the good work!
Other than that, it's a business hotel in a business park, so you get what you pay for. The bed was OK, could have done with an extra pillow. The air conditioning in the room sounded as if we were in a laundrette, it was that noisy. The breakfast was average at best.
I noticed a recent review said there was only Euro-fizz lager in the bar. Well, the two pints of Doom Bar I had say that's not the case.

From the moment we walked in it was clear this was a hotel that cared about its customers. So many examples.
Lady checking out ahead of us had a complicated set of questions. The staff were helpful and responsive until she was delighted and satisfied.
I asked at dinner for diary free, red meat free food. The chef immediately came out and personally discussed options with me. He did a special chicken and pasta just for me.
In the morning, similar attention to detail. Fried eggs for me at no extra cost. Given that the normal breakfast eggs were scrambled with dairy.
Left feeling like royalty. WELL DONE TO ALL THE STAFF.

This is my 1st visit for five years but I thought I would try it again. I waited for five minutes at an unattended check in only to be advised...
This is my 1st visit for five years but I thought I would try it again.
I waited for five minutes at an unattended check in only to be advised that the receptionist was outside having a cigarette, I suggested that she could be told that a guest wanted to check in. Someone went outside and the receptionist did come in and was very pleasant. Everyone needs a break but to leave reception unattended is not good especially in the early afternoon when people start arriving.
My room was booked via a 3rd party website and there is a catch by not booking direct with the hotel, you only get 20 minutes free wifi, a clever way to dissuade you from using booking.com.
Room was fine, clean and tidy.
Because of a previous complaint about the restaurant I decided to use the Harvester which is less than 100 yards away (good meal).
Breakfast was ok nothing special although there was no fruit juice until it was requested.
Would I stay again, yes but only if the various other hotels in the immediate area were full.
It's the attention to detail that makes the difference between a good/great stay and a mediocre/poor one and this was mediocre.
A major hotel brand like Campinile should take note.

I've stayed here for many years on and off. The bathrooms are starting to look tired now and carpets in the rooms likewise. The biggest downturn is the 'cooked' breakfast! Bacon that a decent vet could back on its feet in a few minutes and same goes for the sausages. It was great when it first opened but not now! Breakfast and evening meals opposite in the Harvester I would recommend!

With only one other party dining we felt extremely rushed in every way, I understand drinks as we are arriving however being asked 3 times are we ready to order within the first 5 minutes was excessive. Once the food came, one portion was no bigger than a child’s portion at best. The waiter asked “who’s is this” when serving the food!! I asked did he really say that, his reply...I don’t know what it is...Two of the five of our party where still eating when the table was cleared of others guests plates. We asked for the sweet menu and whilst viewing we where brought our bill. So we decided enough was enough and left without a sweet. We are back in the area in two weeks time and intend to steer clear of this venue for sure.
