The photographer's imagination.Famous German-born Australian photographer Helmut Newton is the subject of a major retrospective at the National Gallery of the Grand Palais.Put together by the photographer's wife, June Newton, also known as Alice Springs, this exhibition in the southeast gallery traces the major themes of the photographer's imagination.The world-famous fashion photographer passed away in 2004, and this first retrospective of his work includes over photographs arranged by theme. Fashion, the nude, the portrait, humour and sex are some of the major themes present in his work, and you will find mainly original and vintage prints on show.The exhibition is complemented by press archives and a film made by the photographer's wife, June Newton.
