The rich hours of Flemish miniatures. The 15th century was a golden age for the Flemish miniature. Driven by the dukes of Burgundy, who were to prove active patrons and bibliophiles, the art of illumination reached its peak. Whether by choice or for political purposes, the patrons employed the finest illuminators of their time: Jan Van Eyck and Rogier van der Weyden. The National Library of France and the Royal Library in Brussels have brought together their collections to present this exhibition: this is to be an exceptional moment in the history of painting and illuminating. More than 90 rare manuscripts will be showcased to the public.
